(6-29-19) The opportunity to go a hosta open house less then a hour away in Milton, Wisconsin was worth the time.

Jeff Miller’s Land of the Giants 3 1/2 acre farm is wall-to-wall hostas. You name it they have it. Hosta lovers of all types, newbies and collectors, looking over the availability of what was for sale…and it was well attended during our time there  shopping. The price range was from $10 to $600,  most had multiple selections in their wagons.

First Blush‘ while I was shopping was getting a lot of play, of course since that is my favorite hosta…I would tell those looking at them –

‘Good Choice’, I have three at home.

It is hard to go away from a place like Land of the Giants and only bring home two hostas, Red October and Miss Susie. Both with nice red petioles and fit right in with what I enjoy in my hostas. If you can OD on hostas this would be a place for that to happen.

The Garden Days were well manned with someone greeting you as you walked in, you were given a listing of hostas available for sale, price range, a wagon to collect your selections, a cashier in place and even a ride back to your car if needed.  Very professional and well done.

Besides the hostas for sale there were ‘gardens‘ dedicated to many well-known hosta hybridizers, including Rod Kuenster, Bob Solberg and Philip Timm.

If you have ever have a chance  to visit Land of the Giants Hosta Farm…do it!
